Well, this was an interesting week at Ron’s Amazing Stories. Not only did it snow in the Pacific Northwest, which never happens in April, it caused power outages and brought not one but two trees down in my backyard. Quite the week. So, as you might imagine, it was hard to get the show done. The good news is that we do have a story for you. If you want to know more about what happened head to the website and you can read my story

Featured Story - Broken Arrow

Our featured story comes from the Screen Directors Playhouse. It broadcast adaptations of feature films with the original directors involved in the productions. Beginning in 1955 the series moved to television focusing on original teleplays and adaptations of famous short stories. What we will hear today was adapted to radio from a Jimmy Stewart western.

Broken Arrow was released in 1950 and was directed by Delmer Daves. It starred James Stewart, Jeff Chandler, and Debra Paget. The film is based on historical figures but fictionalizes their story. It was nominated for three Academy Awards and won a Golden Globe Award for Best Film Promoting International Understanding. Film historians have said that the movie was one of the first major Westerns to portray our native Americans sympathetically. Broken Arrow first aired on September 7, 1951.
